The BYD F3DM is the first plug-in hybrid to go into mass production. The F3DM uses lithium iron phosphate batteries that give it an electric-only range of 68 miles; a 1-liter gasoline engine provides range-extending capability. The F3DM is already on sale in China, and BYD wants to bring the car to the US in 2011.
