The 2011 Lincoln MKX midsize luxury crossover comes with a new features and technologies, new exterior design, new interior design with increased use of genuine materials, new powertrain with unsurpassed fuel economy, improved driving dynamics and new tires and wheels. The 2011 Lincoln MKX has eight class-exclusive features: MyLincoln Touch, Lincoln SYNC, Easy Fuel, SecuriCode™ keyless entry, Blind Spot Mirrors, MyKey, Cross Traffic Alert and AdvanceTrac® with RSC (Roll Stability Control™).
The mid-size luxury crossover, the Lincoln MKX, is due for a complete redesign for 2011. The original Lincoln MKX was launched by Ford’s Lincoln division in December 2006 as a 2007 model. Only four years later, the redesigned model is due out.
From the spy photographs that are circulating, it is clear to see that the new MKX will get Lincoln’s new double-wing grille that is featured on the other Lincoln vehicles, such as the MKS and MKT. The headlights and front styling also look to be redesigned to a new sleeker version instead of the boxy style that the current model has.
The interior of the new MKX will probably also be upgraded. It is not clear exactly what changes the engineers at Lincoln are planning for the new interior, but rumors are that it will likely have an interior similar to the new MKT.
The 2011 Lincoln MKX is expected to be powered by a least one Ecoboost, turbocharged engine. The same goes for the MKX’s sister vehicle, the Ford Edge. The Ecoboost engine may be the 3.5L that is also in the MKT and the MKS. Alternatively, it could be a four-cylinder Ecoboost engine that is featured. Either way, customers of the 2011 MKX can expect significant improvements in fuel economy from the new vehicle. The FWD and AWD engines are expected to be mated with 6-speed automatic transmissions similar to the current vehicle.
The MKX has and will continue to be closely related to its sister vehicle the Ford Edge. Both will be based on off Ford’s CD3 platform and will continue to share powertrain features as well as body panels and other design elements. It is also expected that both vehicles will continue to be produced at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Plant in Oakville, Ontario.
The 2011 Lincoln MKX will continue to delight customers because of its unique features. It is also good to see Ford continuing with its product plans and introducing a redesigned MKX only four years after the original model debut. In these difficult economic times, it is encouraging to see the domestic manufacturer continuing to deliver on its promises to customers.
